If you've been on the planet
for any length of time, you know:
Being alive is stressful.
Truthfully?
Not all stress is bad.
Theyāve found that stressors
can actually be a GOOD thing.
Helps us learn, grow and build resilience.
"OK, well," you might be saying, "Fuuuck alla that..."
And I wouldn't blame you.
Youāre right to be over it.
I was.
Because I didn't know there was another way...
A way to reasonably cope with normal stress,
the everyday stress of being human
without losing my mind.
That's because I was being
crushed under the type of stress that
always makes everything harder.
It's called toxic stress.
Normal stress becomes toxic
when we are exposed to
chronic or overwhelming stressors
that we cannot resolve.
When this happens,
your body gets caught
in a negative feedback loop
that can be incredibly difficult
to break out of.
It's intense.
Because your nervous system's overloaded.
Like, all the time...
It may feel like you're always on edge,
waiting for the other shoe to drop,
perpetually shutting down or
defending against attacks.
Maybe you wake up
with that feeling of dread.
And it's always on, running in the background,
like an old software eating up at your RAM.
You become burnt out, sick, angry,
anxious, and/or depressed.
You might feel thereās no relief, and
you just canāt catch a break.
It's hell, I know...
I spent a LOT of years in this cycle.
Thereās good news, though.
Toxic stress cycles can be interrupted.
Because they're actually
just habits in the brain.
That means theyāre LEARNED.
And anything thatās learned can be unlearned.
Hereās what that means:
Staying in an LTR with toxic stress is optional.
When I realized this truth for myself,
I got so fucking excited.
So excited that I devoted my life to studying it.
Finding faster, more effective ways
to rewrite the software in my brain.
